Our Story

Founded in late 2023, Trail Goddess was created by Leigh-Ann, a Scottish trail and ultra runner and mum of three. After the birth of her third child, Leigh-Ann struggled to find trail running gear that made her feel confident and motivated as she returned to training.

As she searched for the right kit, she found herself frustrated by issues with fit, sizing, and a lack of vibrant colours and designs. Most women’s trail running gear was simply a smaller version of the men’s, with little consideration for women’s specific needs.

Recognising a gap in the market for thoughtful, high-performance trail running clothing and accessories designed specifically for women, Leigh-Ann decided she'd had enough and took the bold step forward to change the way the industry approached trail running kit for women.

Inspired by her love of all things '80s American, she chose the name “Trail Goddess” to reflect her mission of empowering women to feel strong, vibrant, and free as they embark on their adventures in nature.

Find your Freedom is Leigh-Ann's mission to support female runners in finding time for themselves, to feel amazing and achieve things they never imagined possible.

We're breaking away from bigger brands who don't care about how women feel in their kit. We're saying goodbye to gender-neutral clothing and dull, dark, muted colours, with designs exclusively for women that are functional, bold and colourful so you can let your light shine, whenever you run and feel great while doing so!

Whether it’s a 10k trail run or an ultramarathon, Trail Goddess creates kit that is designed to fit and flatter the female shape. Trail running kit that makes you feel amazing... giving you one less thing to worry about, while achieving goals you never thought possible.

At Trail Goddess, we believe that gear should not only perform at the highest level but also be affordable and accessible to all women. Therefore, we only sell direct to our customers, meaning we can ensure that all women can enjoy trail running with top-tier kit -  without compromising on quality, style, or functionality. 

 

About Leigh-Ann

Growing up on the West Coast of Scotland, Leigh-Ann spent her summers exploring Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Trails stretching across West Dunbartonshire and the Lang Craigs were her playgrounds — a place where adventure came naturally. Despite being a bit of a tomboy, sports never captured her interest, except for swimming. Running didn't find its way into her life until after the birth of her daughter in 2010.

At first she tried some local 5ks, then moved on to running half marathons on the road, but she felt something was missing. Fast forward to 2020, and a friend invited her to try trail running on a local route nicknamed "The Christmas Tree" — a path along the John Muir Way. That day sparked a passion that would reshape her life. Throughout the lockdowns, Leigh-Ann found peace in exploring the local trails around Loch Lomond.

Inspired by friends who had conquered marathons and ultramarathons, Leigh-Ann took on the Glencoe Marathon in 2021. The experience fueled a drive that not even the birth of her third child at 41 could diminish. Thirteen months later, she completed her first ultramarathon — followed by two more in the same year.

Leigh-Ann believes that trail running is a space where every woman can find a sense of freedom and strength. If she can do it, anyone can. Her mission with Trail Goddess is simple: to empower women to "Find Your Freedom" through trail running, while feeling confident, strong, and unstoppable.
